Gears Needed for Your Conversion?
Yes! Our competitors say that the gear reduction is not needed because it cannot be supplied, and in come cases they are correct. For example, if a customer drives to work every day on an empty F450 pickup, the gear installation is not needed. On the other hand, if a customer tows a D5 CAT behind an F550, a gear conversion is absolutely needed to accommodate the super single conversions as budget, load, torque, and horsepower are all affected.
If you do not get the gears and pull heavy loads, what happens? You will experience excessive transmission temperatures, burnt rear diff oil, a transmission constantly hunting for gears at highway speeds, the speedometer, odometer, TCM, PCM, and ABS will NOT function properly.
That is why we recommend changing the gears. Our YouTube videos show 2100 RPM at 75 mph with our gears and super single - compare that to your factory truck. Or look at the math:
TIRE SIZE (42") X GEAR RATIO (6:17) = 197.44
TIRE SIZE (32") X GEAR RATION (4:88) = 204.96
With a 3.7% difference, 6:17 is the closest to an ideal ratio.
With over 800 trucks in service as of this writing, only 3 have had warranty replacements. These are the best quality and strongest material gears America has to offer.
